First things first. For those who are beginner's in the online shopping world here are some things you need to know before you get started.
1. Make sure the site is secure. What does this mean? There's nothing worse than buying from a site that is not secure and you ending up getting ripped off. There are many online retailer's out there that are just out for your money and credit card details. Some signs to help you identify secure sites are:
- Somewhere in the top of your browser where you type the web address there's a lock.
- Some internet security software check sites for you and let you know if they're safe or not.
- The site uses PayPal as a payment method. (for the newbies, join Paypal!!)
- The site has a 100 % secure guarantee.
2. Do your research. Read reviews on the website and its products. Just google it. This way it'll make it easier to make a decision on buying from a online retailer. Some sites have reviews on their sites.
3. Work out your affordability. Its really easy to get carried away when you're shopping online. Don't forget there are shipping costs to consider. Also, make sure the site actually ships to your country. Most sites have shipping costs available.
4. If you're buying clothes, make sure you're getting the right size. Most countries sizes differ from each other and most sites again have sizing charts available for you to look at. It's also probably a good idea to keep a record of what size you are with different brands and sites in case you buy from them again.
5. Obviously you need a credit card or debit card to purchase items on the internet.
6. If you can only afford or like only one item from the particular retailer. There's really not much point unless the shipping is free or really cheap. Why pay for the shipping if your only purchasing one item? Unless the item is expensive/worth alot. Just my opinion anyway. I wouldn't pay $12-$20 shipping for a $10 item.
7. I can't think of anymore tips. So all I can say now is have fun, stay safe and don't blow your wallet.
